Charlotte accountant who was previously convicted sentenced for embezzling more than $1M from former employer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A twice-convicted accountant was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison Wednesday for embezzling more than $1.1 million from her Charlotte employer, U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson of the Western District of North Carolina announced.

Mandy Deann Urban, 49, formerly of Charlotte, was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release following her prison term and to pay more than $1 million in restitution.

According to court records, Urban worked as a senior staff accountant for a Charlotte-based company from January 2019 to June 2022.
