Charlotte man accepts plea deal in 2023 death of ex-girlfriend Allisha Watts

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – A Charlotte man charged with first-degree murder in his ex-girlfriend’s 2023 death accepted a plea deal this week, court documents showed.

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, James Dunmore pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and failure to notify of a death in the killing of his ex-girlfriend Allisha Watts. Dunmore maintains his innocent in connection with her death, however.

Dunmore on Wednesday pleaded guilty using the Alford Plea, which means he doesn’t accept fault for the crimes, but does accept conviction. He will be treated as if he were guilty, despite whether he was or not…
