CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two leaders of the MS-13 gang were sentenced in federal court this week for violent crimes committed in support of the criminal organization, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina announced.
Fredy Mauricio Buruca, 27, of El Salvador, received a 30-year prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender. Buruca, who went by the nicknames “Piranha,” “Machete” and “Insoportable,” pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy and kidnapping a minor.
Santos Guillermo Ramirez Mancia, 34, also of El Salvador, was sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Mancia, known as “Azazel,” “Timido” and “Johnny,” pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy…
