Gastonia Police officers take the plunge for Special Olympics

GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Gastonia Police officers swapped their bulletproof vests for swimsuits to support a good cause.

Saturday morning, officers gathered at a local swimming pool in Gastonia for the 2026 Polar Plunge in support of the Special Olympics of Gaston County.

Gastonia Police raised $4,705 for the Special Olympics, earning first place for the amount of money raised.

The money will go towards helping the Special Olympics afford camps and other services….
