Three hurt in small plane crash at Charlotte area airport

MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The runway at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport is closed after an aircraft overturned while landing on Monday.

Monroe officials say a single-engine piston aircraft carrying three people overturned while landing. The aircraft crashed approximately 200 to 300 feet from the runway.

Airport staff immediately responded, along with city police and fire personnel.

All three occupants were transported to Atrium Health CMC Main with non-life-threatening injuries…
