Crispy Banh Mi’s run in Ayrsley is coming to an abrupt end, with the popular storefront set to close on March 25 after five years in the shopping center. Owners say the choice was not theirs, pointing to a lease that was not renewed and an early end to a stretch that turned the spot into a go-to weekday lunch stop for crispy banh mi sandwiches, noodle bowls and bubble tea.
In a farewell post on Instagram, the shop thanked customers and wrote, “it has been an absolute pleasure to serve you every day,” according to the Charlotte Observer. The outlet noted that the restaurant did not respond to requests for comment, and reported that management said the landlord would not renew the lease. Diners have until March 25 to grab their last sandwiches at the Ayrsley counter, the Observer added.
Other Charlotte locations remain open
The chain is keeping its other Charlotte locations open, including sites in Ballantyne, Madison Park and Plaza-Shamrock, according to the restaurant’s locations page. Crispy Banh Mi lists addresses and online ordering links for those remaining shops, and there is no indication that any of them are affected by the Ayrsley lease decision.
Where the Ayrsley shop sits
The Ayrsley shopping center lists Crispy Banh Mi at 2130 Ayrsley Town Blvd., Suite C, in its online directory. Ayrsley shows the storefront among other restaurants and services in the mixed-use complex. The tone of the Instagram farewell suggests the owners will put their attention on the remaining locations while the Ayrsley space prepares to turn over.
