CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — All lanes of Independence Boulevard have reopened Monday night after an incident involving an overturned tow truck caused major traffic delays through the afternoon and rush hour.
According to CMPD’s traffic map, the crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. on E. Independence Blvd near N. Sharon Amity Road. According to Medic, no one was injured.
A Queen City News photographer at the scene said initially, three outbound lanes of Independence were closed, and one has since reopened. Cars were seen using the bus-transit lane during the full closure. All lanes were cleared as of 8 p.m.
It appears that a new pickup truck was strapped to a tow truck when it fell off and flipped over. Medic, Charlotte Fire Department, and HAZMAT units all responded to the scene…
