NASCAR is mourning the death of former NASCAR driver Chase Pistone at the age of 42. The Charlotte, N.C., native hailed from deep NASCAR roots as the grandson of two-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner “Tiger” Tom Pistone, a stock car racing legend.

In a post shared to Facebook, Pistone’s brother Nick Pistone shared the tragic news, writing:

I’m broken hearted and don’t know if I’ll ever get over this. I miss you, Chase, already and I hope you are in a better place…
