Street takeovers usually involve Dodge Chargers doing smoky donuts in an intersection, but a new, equally frustrating trend is emerging: pedestrian takeovers. Drivers attempting to navigate Birkdale Village, a high-end mixed-use shopping district in Huntersville, North Carolina, found themselves trapped this past weekend when a massive mob of teenagers swarmed the roadways.
According to local residents and viral footage, an estimated 200 to 300 teens flooded the streets, deliberately blocking vehicles from passing. When drivers refused to stop or attempted to inch forward, the unruly crowd would climb up onto the vehicles.
The entire ordeal was posted online and various clips have now gone viral on the likes of TikTok. The moment has been since dubbed “Twerkdale”…
