CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Spring has arrived, bringing sneezing, itchy eyes and congestion to cities across the U.S. — especially to Charlotte.
One study ranked Charlotte as the second-sneeziest city in the country, right behind Atlanta.
Dr. Bailee Gilchrist, an immunologist with Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center, said Charlotte is the perfect storm when it comes to allergies due to trees, city pollution and longer warm seasons.
Why Charlotte allergies hit harder
“It’s like the combination of the [carbon dioxide] emissions from being an urban city,” Gilchrist said. “We kind of say that’s more of like junk food for the pollinators, and they’re really pollinating out of control.”…
