$8K towing fees spark backlash in Gaston County

STANLEY, N.C. — Concerns are growing over what some are calling predatory towing practices in Gaston County. More than a dozen commercial vehicles were removed from a parking lot in Stanley over the weekend, leaving some owners facing thousands of dollars in fees.

The incident happened at a lot along N.C. Highway 27, where business owners say they returned to find their vehicles gone and were later told they would need to pay steep costs to retrieve them.
