CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – One of the daughters of a former Charlotte council member accepted a plea deal on charges connected to a COVID-19 loan scheme, according to court documents filed last week.
In court documents filed on Friday, March 27, Tijema Brown, the daughter of former Charlotte city council member Tiawana Brown, accepted a plea deal in a wire fraud case involving COVID-19 PPP loans.
Court records show that Tijema Brown received more than $51,666 in fraud proceeds from the Small Business Administration and PPP lenders. Tijema Brown also helped Tiawana Brown in submitting a false application to a PPP lender, which resulted in Tiawana Brown receiving $20,833 in fraud proceeds…
