Charlotte, North Carolina — A shocking daytime attack has left a pregnant woman injured after police say she was randomly stabbed in a grocery store parking lot while walking with her young child.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident happened on the morning of March 18 at a Harris Teeter location.

Investigators say the victim was walking through the parking lot with her 3-year-old child when she was suddenly attacked.

Police confirmed the victim and suspect had no prior interaction, calling it a random act of violence.
