Plea deal brings relief to family of man gunned down in Charlotte convenience store

Sharrieff Gray pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 to 25 years in prison for the shooting of Ronnie Ruth on Nov. 19, 2024, at the Charlotte Fast Mart on Tom Hunter Road in northeast Charlotte.

Ruth walked in to buy a pack of cigarettes and a drink, but while at the counter, Gray walked in and shot him three times in the head before running away.

Ruth’s family said they were relieved that the case was over and they could finally move forward towards forgiveness…
