Rock Hill Woman Killed on I-77 After Exiting Disabled Vehicle, Struck by Passing Car

A Rock Hill woman was killed Friday morning after being struck by a passing vehicle on Interstate 77 in York County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the York County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. on I-77 northbound. Troopers said a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, which was towing a utility trailer, became disabled and came to a stop in the middle of the road. The driver exited the vehicle and was struck by an oncoming 2018 Jeep Renegade.

The York County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Katherine Y. Mendoza Amador, 36, of Rock Hill. She died at the scene…
