Crews respond to spreading brush fire in Steele Creek area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fire in Charlotte’s Steele Creek area has expanded to seven acres as firefighters work to put it out.

The fire began along Steele Creek Road near Mallard Landing Road and was first reported around 8 a.m., according to the Charlotte Fire Department. Crews said the fire was under control within two hours, but were later called to the area again around 2 p.m.

The North Carolina Forest Service, Steele Crew Fire Department, and Riverfiew Fire Department responded to the scene…
