Chilly mornings ahead before mid-week rain returns in the Carolinas

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Frost advisories and freeze warnings were issued over the weekend in the mountains and we’re still tracking another chilly morning over the next few days before a warming trend takes over the Carolinas.

WBTV meteorologists are giving you the First Alert on a significant weather system moving in mid-week that could bring heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The next few days: Frost possible in mountains

Sunday’s forecast show sunny and pleasant conditions with a high near 70°. Winds will stay light from the northwest at 5-10 mph, making it a great day to get outside. However, the mornings will remain chilly.

Tonight, into Monday morning, clear skies are expected to continue, and temperatures will likely drop into the low 40s across the Charlotte area. In the North Carolina mountains and foothills, widespread frost is expected again.

Some particularly sheltered mountain valley locations could dip into the mid-30s, so patchy frost can’t be ruled out…
