Union County women allegedly posed as friends, family to swindle elderly men out of money, sheriff says

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Two women are facing multiple felony charges after Union County deputies say they defrauded at least two elderly men out of tens of thousands of dollars and valuables.

“As time evolves, these scammers evolve. And they’re continually working on what I’ll call, ‘their craft,'” Lt. Matthew Winfrey with the Union County Sheriff’s Office said.
