INDIAN LAND, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A permit to build a mosque in Indian Land has been denied by the Lancaster County Council over infrastructure and traffic concerns by local leaders.
“My concern is more to do with what this looks like three years from now,” said Stuart Graham, a Lancaster County Council member.
Earlier this year, Arafath Mohammad, owner of Waxlan Investments LLC, requested a conditional-use permit to build a mosque on Harrisburg Road. He purchased the property in January and submitted a plan to demolish the current home on the property to build a 3,000-plus-square-foot mosque.
