Man arrested in Rutherford County suspected of killing 16-year-old boy in NE Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect was arrested three counties away after being accused of killing a 16-year-old this week in northeast Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

CMPD says 28-year-old Taquawn Lewis was located in the Rutherford County town of Bostic on Thursday and arrested by the sheriff’s office. The Gaston County man was wanted in the killing of Joseph Samuel.

Lewis was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and is charged with the following:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of Firearm by Felon
