On Friday, Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall celebrates its 50th anniversary. To mark the milestone, the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society is spotlighting how civic leadership and social activism shaped the city with a special exhibit.
Then and Now: Charlottesville in the 1970s is on display at Vault Virginia’s gallery on the mall.
City leaders and Friends of Cville Downtown organized a full schedule of events on the mall in celebration, including tours led by the historical society. A birthday party for the mall is also planned, then there are concerts, a lantern parade, and light show and it’s all expected to end with a disco dance party.
