Fourth of July storm takes out power and knocks down trees in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – People woke up after celebrating the Fourth of July with a new task: cleaning up the debris left behind after a storm rolled through mid-afternoon Saturday.

Dominion Energy says winds reached 75 miles per hour and left a total of 28,000 people without power at some point during the day.

“Thankfully, we’ve restored the vast majority of these customers already. We’re going to continue to work throughout the day until everybody is restored,” Dominion Energy Spokesperson Craig Carper said…
