Madison County Planning Commission has been tasked with developing local guidelines to allow roadside stands for selling baked goods. The Virginia General Assembly approved new wording at this year’s general assembly expanding what can be sold from home bakeries and kitchens. The subject of cottage bakeries first came up during public comment but by the time the joint meeting of Madison County Planning Commissioners and Board of Supervisors ended Wednesday night, the commission had been tasked with developing an ordinance amendment allowing the practice selling baked goods from a roadside stand.
