CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Charlottesville Office of Sustainability is hosting a rain barrel workshop with the James River Association to help conserve water.
The event is set for 6 p.m. on September 3 at the Dairy Market. Those who register with the James River Association can decorate a rain barrel. The barrel costs $50 and comes with a decoration kit.
“This is just going to hold our rainwater so we can use it at a later date, your plants don’t care really where your waters coming from and so its a great way to help mitigate some of the drought issues we are having and also just helping storm water, you’re helping prevent some of that water runoff from the streams that’s dirty from other things in the road,” said Jill Greiner, water efficiency program coordinator with the Office of Sustainability…
