CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Intakes at the Holiday Drive shelter were heaviest in the first few days after opening and have started to slow down since, according to the shelter’s director.
The primary focus during the first week has been getting people through the doors and settled into the new space.
“Success in the first week is getting people into the building and getting, helping them understand sort of what a day-to-day flow is going to look like for them, ” said Richard Southee, regional executive director for Central Arizona Shelter Services. “And really helping our staff get familiar with the clients and the clients get familiar with the staff and understand sort of what we’re here to do for them.”…
