CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WHSV) – Charlottesville police are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning on the Downtown Mall.
Officers were called to East Main Street and Third Street Southeast around 1:53 a.m. for a fight involving about 10 people, according to the Charlottesville Police Department. About five minutes later, officers received additional calls reporting that shots were fired in the area.
CPD detectives reviewed surveillance video, which showed a suspect pulling out a gun and putting it away, moving in and out of the cameras’ view during the incident. At one point, the person displayed a firearm and was seen walking backward westbound on the Mall, where he pointed the gun and fired shots near CVS before running toward Water Street…
