Vince McMahon has a story behind his glory
Vince McMahon the former head of WWE recently resigned after lawsuits were filed against him for inappropriate behavior with female employees (per AP News). The world has seen the glory of the Sports Entertainment brand he built but not everyone knows the story of where he came from and the Commonwealth of Virginia plays a role in his saga.
At the age of 16 McMahon met the woman who would be his future wife Linda Edwards McMahon who was 13. Young Vince had a rough home life and dealt with several abusive stepfathers. (per Wikipedia). His mother and Linda’s mom worked together and the families became friends.
From Military School in Waynesboro to a worldwide empire
Vince spent a lot of time at the Edwards home because it was a loving environment and different from his own. Linda and Vince dated while she attended Havelock High School in North Carolina and he was enrolled in Fishburn Military High School in Waynesboro, Virginia.
The couple married on August 26, 1966, when in they were 17 and 21. During the early years, Vince was a traveling salesman selling cups and worked in a quarry. At one point McMahon worked 90 hours a week and the family was getting food stamps. The couple eventually filed for bankruptcy (per the Sportster) and they have built an empire together but reportedly have either separated or divorced (per gb Issuean).
