Six years ago, the FDA approved a new treatment for the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, using focused sound waves to destroy tissue at a very specific spot in the brain. Today doctors are experimenting with focused ultrasound to treat many other conditions, and the Focused Ultrasound Foundation in Charlottesville hopes to accelerate that work.
