The season’s only matchup between the Hurricanes and Cavaliers comes at a pivotal point for each team. Miami posted an excellent nonconference record, but the grueling ACC has seen the Hurricanes’ season come back down to earth. The Cavaliers sit just two games back of first-place North Carolina and are a dark horse conference contender.
Virginia is 12-9-1 against the spread this season and currently on a six-game winning streak. The Cavaliers have covered the spread in four of the six games, as they have bounced back after their 1-3 start to conference play. Virginia prides itself on defense, but their offense has been pretty strong in the last two contests, hitting the OVER for total points in both.
The Hurricanes are 12-8-2 against the spread this season, but conference play has been up and down. Miami is 4-5 in their last nine games and only covered the spread four times. Their offense has also sputtered, as they have hit the UNDER in four of their last five. The Hurricanes hit the OVER in the last contest as their offense had its best scoring output in a month — hopefully a sign they are turning a corner.
