In January 2024, UNO School of Music students participated in the National Opera Association Convention Conference in Tempe, Arizona. They reached the finals of the Robert Hansen Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition, specifically in the musical theatre division. The team included Yasmine Elrefaie, Anna Freivogel, Isa Gott, Samantha Howdle, Emery Leitch, and Christian Shields.
The students performed and attended conference sessions, masterclasses, and panel discussions. This allowed them to engage with musicians, composers, librettists, professors, and industry professionals nationwide.
