The Barboursville Target remained closed for the fourth day in a row Monday following a slip of the hillside behind the store.
There’s no word on when the store will reopen.
Signs at the entrance of the store remain up saying the store is temporarily closed until further notice.
Barboursville Mayor Chris Tatum says there were two slips on the hillside behind the store.
He says the first one happened Thursday.
A water line ruptured. Crews were able to repair that, and the store opened Friday morning, but not long afterward, Tatum says the ground settled again, causing the water line to break again.
The sewer line was broken, as well. That’s been bypassed until the slip is repaired, Tatum said.
The mayor says Target will have the slip fixed themselves, and they’ve been working with property management, the utility companies, and engineers. The mayor says it’s been “all hands on deck.”
Tatum says there’s been no determination on what caused the slip, and the ground hasn’t settled again since Friday morning.
