In October, it became the first picture book to become a finalist for the National Book Award for Young Peoples’ Literature. Many readers and educators suggested it’s next stop was the Randolph Caldecott Medal; the Youth Media Award from the American Library Association is considered one of the highest accolades in children’s literature.
