No. 3 Virginia and No. 11 Michigan will clash in an exciting season-opening matchup between two of the top teams in college lacrosse on Saturday afternoon.

The Cavaliers tout a fierce attack that averaged north of 17 goals per game last season. The unit is led by Connor Shellenberger, a three-time first-team All-American. Shellenberger led Virginia with 84 points last season and also led the nation in assists, totaling 54 and averaging 3.38 per game.

Virginia ended last season on a crushing note, falling in overtime to Notre Dame, 13-12, in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan enters the new season after a historic 2023 campaign that saw the Wolverines win the Big Ten championship for the first time in program history. In addition, Michigan earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance, beating Cornell before falling to Duke in the second round.

The Wolverines are led by senior Michael Boehm, last year’s leading point-getter with 73. They also bring in Beau Pederson, a graduate transfer from Princeton, who was tabbed a first-team preseason All-American.
