Tips to keep the elderly safe in extreme heat

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – In this hot weather, it’s important to check in on elderly family, friends, and neighbors – especially those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. “Drastic changes in their environment can make things difficult for a care partner. It can be dangerous for the person living with the cognitive decline,” Senior Program Manager for the Central and Western Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association Brooke Gill said. “We want to make sure that during these extreme temperatures, that we’re paying attention, more attention to our person to make sure that we’re meeting their needs.”
