NOTICE OF INTENT TO REQUEST RELEASE OF FUNDS

On or about July 18, 2024, the City of Waynesboro will submit a request to HUD for the release of CDBG-CV & CDBG funds under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (P.L. 93-383), as amended to undertake a project known as Fairfax Hall Renovations for the purpose of HVAC improvements to enhance air quality, especially as a response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Currently the apartments are heated and cooled with heat pumps and have air handlers (a mix of makes and models from 1.5-2-ton capacities) mounted in the ceilings or in the attic. The project expects to replace all of the ceiling mounted air handling units with 1.5 ton, slim (low profile) ducted air handlers with outdoor heat pump units, aiming for the highest standards including Earthcraft Gold which includes measures for improved ventilation and better indoor air quality, and Zero Energy Ready Homes. The subject property consists of an approximately 2.981-acre parcel of land that is currently utilized for residential purposes. This project will be using $24,130 of 2020 CDBG-CV dollars, $870 of 2021 CDBG dollars, $20,958 of 2022 CDBG dollars, and $4,042 of 2023 CDBG dollars, for a total project cost of $50,000.
