State Police urge safe driving amid tough start to summer season

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The July 4th holiday means feasts, fireworks, and parties, but State Police is asking it includes focus and sobriety on the roadways as well. State Police’s Matt Demlein says the first summer holiday was an inauspicious start with 13 fatalities over the Memorial Day holiday counting period, and 25 additional fatalities in the week following that holiday alone. Demlein says they have four absolute appeals… drive sober, avoid distractions, please do not speed, and buckle up. All go a long way to making sure you and others get to their destinations.
