Hot with Scattered Storms This Independence Day

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Happy Independence Day! Although the day has gotten off to a sunny start, things will look different this afternoon. A frontal system will bring an increase in clouds throughout the day with an isolated to scattered chance for showers and storms into the afternoon and early evening. So far, the severe risk is marginal and could bring potentially strong and damaging wind gusts as well as localized downpours, but it is a low risk. Rainfall amounts overall are also expected to be low, less than half an inch. Aside from the storm potential, it’s also going to be a hot day. Temperatures will reach the mid 90′s with heat indices in the low 100′s. Similar conditions will remain as we bring the week to a close. Check back for updates.
