AUGUSTA COUNTY — A tractor-trailer driver was airlifted to Charlottesville early Sunday morning after their truck collided with another rig on Interstate 81.
In a Facebook post, the Augusta Fire-Rescue Department said the crash happened around 4:20 a.m. on northbound I-81 about a mile and a half north of the Verona exit. Not many details about the cause of the accident were available, but the post said the unidentified driver was trapped inside the cab of one of those trucks.
That driver was airlifted to University of Virginia Medical Center. The extent of the injuries was not immediately available.
This is a developing story.
