Charlottesville Police to work with businesses to prevent downtown violence

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Charlottesville Police Department is looking to prevent violence on the Downtown Mall.

At Monday’s city council meeting, Charlottesville Police Chief Michael Kochis spoke about safety after two shootings in two weekends on the Downtown Mall.

“Firearms and alcohol played a major role in the recent events,” Kochis said, “and CPD will be working with businesses in the area on ways to combat the violence.”…
