Big Heat Backing Down, but Staying Humid. Daily Storm Chances to Continue.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Scattered showers and storms will slowly fade overnight. Pockets of locally heavy rain.

The excessive heat we have experienced this week, will back down Friday and this weekend. While still hot, not as extreme as recent days. It will still remain humid. The big heat ridge in the jet stream, is weakening. This combined with a front, to our north, will give rise to more scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. A few storms, isolated strong to severe. Main threats some gusty damaging winds, spotty hail and locally heavy rain.

This will remain the set up as we move through the weekend and into early next week. Temperatures will range from the upper 80s to low 90s. No washouts, but scattered storms expected by the afternoon and evening. Remember, “When Thunder Roars, Move Indoors.” A stronger cold front to arrive Tuesday to trigger more storms, before a drier couple of days leading into late next week and July 4th Independence Day.
