The University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health) has announced a pair of $25 million anonymous gifts to support the construction of a state-of-the-art biomedical research, development, and manufacturing facility.
The gifts will fund the completion of the four-story, 350,000-square-foot home of the university’s Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology, which aims to drive research and development of new treatments and cures “for the most challenging medical conditions.” The institute—launched in 2023 with a $100 million commitment from Paul and Diane Manning—is expected to broadly expand the state’s biotechnology innovation ecosystem and drive economic growth in Central Virginia. The facility is expected to be completed in 2027.
