CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Meadowbrook Road, just off Barracks Road in Charlottesville is a typically quiet residential neighborhood. Now, neighbor Stephen Franco says, mental health crises and drug use have become a semi-regular sight outside his front door.
“We’ve lived here almost three years,” Franco said. “It’s a great neighborhood. But more recently at Barracks and Meadowbrook, this intersection, we’ve seen an uptick of homeless.”
Franco said he is sympathetic to people experiencing homelessness and wants to see more long-term solutions in the Charlottesville area; however, he worries how the new crowds may impact his young children…
