CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR)- A long-stalled project that aimed at solving Greene County’s persistent water problems is finally moving forward, with Board of Supervisors voting to move forward on the White Run Reservoir.
“The reservoir is really being built for those times when there isn’t water in enough water,” Cathy Schafrik, Greene County administrator said. “The amount of water that we need for the current users is pushing the limits of our licensure and how much more the safe what’s called the safe yield of the river.”
For just as long as it has been a problem, Schafrik said, the White Run Reservoir has been the proposed solution, but its hefty price tag kept it on the back burner…
