No verdict yet in vandalism case against the Charlottesville man who created a makeshift crosswalk

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Charlottesville man who was arrested for creating a makeshift crosswalk near Ix Art Park will have to keep waiting to learn his fate.

On Monday morning in Charlottesville’s General District Court, Judge Andrew Sneathern did not reach a verdict in the trial determining whether 72-year-old Kevin Cox committed vandalism when he used spray-on chalk to draw a crosswalk at the intersection of Elliot Ave. and Second Street Southeast.

Cox, a well-known pedestrian safety advocate in Charlottesville, has pleaded not guilty to a Class 1 misdemeanor charge, which, if he is convicted, translates up to $2,500 in fines and up to a year in prison…
