HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – According to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, since 2020, more Virginians have died from fatal drug overdoses than from motor vehicles and gun-related deaths combined.
“This issue has been a very high priority on the state level in Virginia as well as across the country because there is a really high rate of drug-related overdoses, many involving opioids. So this is a point where we can potentially intervene to save lives,” said Amelia Morrison, Behavioral Health Wellness Coordinator for Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Service Board.
