For the first time in more than a decade, the University of Virginia Faculty Senate overwhelmingly passed a vote of no confidence in the school’s Board of Visitors.
After more than an hour of debate at an emergency meeting last Friday, the 82-member body passed a resolution of no confidence with 46 senators in favor of, six against and eight senators abstaining from the vote on the measure.
Faculty Senate Chair Jeri Seidman, an associate professor at UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce, explained that though roughly 20 senators were unable to attend the meeting on short notice during the summer, the group only needs 40% of its membership to conduct business…
