Pinpoint Weather: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for our eastern most counties including Appomattox, Charlotte, and Halifax until 10 p.m.

Scattered instances of damaging wind gusts up to 65 mph that could knock down trees and power lines will be the main concern today as storms move into the area. Isolated large hail will be possible as well.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions are favorable for severe storms in and around the watch area. Make sure to stay weather aware today and have multiple ways to receive warnings and alerts.

Another threat from storms today will be the concern for localized flash flooding. A Slight Risk (2/4) for excessive rainfall is highlighted over the region today. A Flood Watch is also in effect for Nelson county through this evening…
