Injured Old Rag hiker airlifted off mountain

Fourth hoist rescue this year from popular Shenandoah National Park mountain

The crew of Med-Flight 1 executed the successful hoist rescue of an injured hiker on Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park in Madison County on Wednesday.

Med-flight 1 was initially notified by the National Park Service of the need for service at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Old Rag Mountain is about 80 nautical miles from the helicopter’s home base in Chesterfield County, near Richmond.
