CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – With temperatures reaching dangerous levels this past weekend, Charlottesville and Albemarle County opened multiple cooling centers across the area offering residents free access to air conditioning, water, and a safe place to escape the heat.
The heat index soared past hazardous conditions, making it unsafe to be outdoors for too long.
“The heat can be so dangerous honestly,” said Charlottesville resident Erica Hidinger-Wood. “I think it’s really important to have those cooling centers open, especially for people who don’t have ready access to A/C.”…
