Two Augusta County deputies sued for $3.3 million in lawsuit connected to 2023 pursuit

CHARLOTTESVILLE— Two Augusta County Sheriff’s Office deputies are being sued in Albemarle County Circuit Court in connection with a two-county pursuit in 2023 that left two people injured, according to the lawsuit.

The $3.3 million lawsuit cites gross negligence and battery. Filed on July 23, it lists Adam R. Martin, the suspect in the pursuit, and Tina M. Lang, a passenger who was allegedly roughed up when Martin was arrested, as the plaintiffs.

Initially, the pursuit resulted in Sgt. William A. Mikolay of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office being charged in Albemarle County with felony malicious wounding after Martin was reportedly injured during his arrest…
